Pedal The Cause Training Ride

Saturday, August 1st | 7:00am check-in, 7:30am start time

This training ride is presented by Pedal the Cause in preparation for Pedal the Cause 2026 , with course options of 15.5, 23, or 36 miles for all skill levels. After the ride, the outdoor patio at 4 Hands Brewery - Kirkwood hosts live music (10am-1pm) and food from Peacemaker Lobster & Crab, plus a cold Pedal the Cause City Wide beer. Registration is required; a $10-15 donation is suggested. 100% of funds raised benefit Siteman Cancer Center and Washington University and St. Louis Children's Hospitals.

Music from a Tent is a free, community-driven DJ series held in the grassy bowl on the north side of Benton Park, organized by local creatives Illtemperament, Umami, and Field Theory. What we do know is that 6% of adults will qualify for a PTSD diagnosis at some point in their lives, and many will go on to find effective treatments that meaningfully reduce their symptoms.

Most people know summer feels different — but fewer realize why June specifically is one of the harder months for sleep. With the longest days of the year, your body is exposed to more light than at any other point on the calendar. Light signals wakefulness. More of it, later into the evening, means your internal clock gets pushed — and your sleep window quietly shrinks.

According to the National Library of Medicine, more than one-third of adults sleep less than seven hours per night on average —falling short of the minimum most experts recommend. For medical cannabis patients already managing chronic conditions, disrupted sleep isn't just inconvenient, it can create a domino effect.

Practicing good sleep hygiene sets a strong foundation for general well-being.

There are many small things you can do to practice good sleep hygiene: following a consistent schedule, dimming the lights, unplugging from electronics. These things all signal to your nervous system that it’s time to start winding down.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Proper Cannabis we want to take the time to talk openly about anxiety, one of the most common qualifying conditions among Missouri medical cannabis patients. If anxiety or stress is what led you to get your medical card, this month's spotlight is for you.

We want to be upfront: we are not medical providers, and nothing here is medical advice. We do not make claims about what cannabis does for anxiety. What we can offer is a listening ear, and a place where you can educate yourself on what products may work for you.

We get it—stepping into a dispensary can be an anxiety inducing experience in itself. There are wings—and then there are these wings.

Chef Dave Owens brings together heat, sweetness, and a precise infusion technique in this Mango Chili Cannabis Glazed Chicken Wings recipe. Built around Honeybee's Mango Chili Gumdrops, this dish balances bold flavor with thoughtful dosing, delivering a sticky, spicy-sweet finish that'll spice up your dinner.

Mango Chili Cannabis Glazed Chicken Wings

Sticky, spicy-sweet wings glazed with melted Proper Brands Mango Chili Gumdrops, orange marmalade, and fresh lime. Each serving contains approximately 10 mg THC — plan accordingly and enjoy responsibly.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

12 chicken wings
1 teaspoon kosher salt
0.5 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon neutral oil (avocado or vegetable)

The Glaze

6 Proper Brands Honeybee Mango Chili Gumdrops (5 mg THC each)
3 tablespoons orange marmalade
1 fresh lime, juiced
1 tablespoons soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoons lime zest
3 green onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Steps

Prep and dry the wings: Pat chicken wings thoroughly dry with paper towels — this is the key to crispy skin. Toss with kosher salt, black pepper, and baking powder. Place on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Refrigerate uncovered for at least 60 minutes, or overnight for best results.

Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F. If you refrigerated the wings overnight, pull them out now and let them come toward room temperature while the oven heats.

Bake the wings: Lightly brush the wire rack with 1 tablespoon neutral oil (avocado or vegetable). Arrange wings in a single layer, skin side up, making sure none are touching. Bake at 425°F for 45 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Make the cannabis glaze: While wings bake, make the glaze. In a small saucepan over very low heat, combine glaze ingredients. Stir gently and continuously — do not let it boil or simmer aggressively, as high heat degrades THC. Heat only until the gumdrops are fully melted and the glaze is smooth and glossy, about 5–8 minutes. Remove from heat.

Glaze and finish: Remove wings from the oven. Using a pastry brush or spoon, coat each wing generously with the cannabis glaze. Return to the oven for 5 minutes to set the glaze.

Garnish and serve: Transfer wings to a serving platter. Garnish with green onions, thinly sliced, chopped cilantro and an extra squeeze of fresh lime. Serve immediately.

Notes

Dosing: This recipe uses 6 Mango Chili Gumdrops at 5 mg THC each = 30 mg THC total across 12 wings, or approximately 2.5 mg THC per wing. A serving of 6 wings contains roughly 15 mg THC. Know your tolerance before eating.

Keep the heat low when making the glaze. THC begins to degrade above 245°F. Use the lowest heat possible — just enough to melt the gumdrops. Do not boil.

Label clearly. If storing or sharing, always label these wings as cannabis-infused and keep them away from children, pets, and anyone who hasn't consented.

Onset time. Edibles typically take 45 minutes to 2 hours to take effect. Do not drive after consuming. Start low, go slow — especially if serving guests with varying tolerances.

Air fryer option. Cook wings at 400°F for 20–22 minutes, flipping halfway, then brush with glaze and cook an additional 3 minutes.

A couple of things worth noting about this recipe:

The glaze step is the most important one to get right — keeping the heat as low as possible while melting the gumdrops preserves the THC. The mango chili gumdrops are perfect here because the ghost pepper and guajillo chili in the formula add a genuine slow-building heat that plays really well against the sweetness of the marmalade and the brightness of the lime.

On dosing, the baking powder trick for crispy wings means the wings themselves spend time at high oven temps, but the cannabis is only introduced in the glaze at the very end over low heat, so potency should be well preserved. Just remind anyone eating these that onset for edibles can take up to two hours — wings this good tend to disappear fast.

Chronic pain is the most common qualifying condition for Missouri medical cannabis patients. If you're living with arthritis, fibromyalgia, nerve damage, or another chronic pain condition, it's likely the reason you pursued your medical card. If you've ever walked into a dispensary and felt like the staff wasn't quite ready for that conversation, we want to change that.

We train our team to have real conversations about chronic pain. That doesn't mean we make promises about outcomes. It means we ask better questions. What kind of pain are you managing? Where is it located? What formats have you tried? His journey began in 1978, when his father gave him an old Pentax camera to shoot the Grateful Dead at the Meadowlands. What started as basement-developed photos became a wild ride following the Dead—camera in tow.

Today, Blakesberg is one of the music industry's most sought-after rock photographers, with work published in Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and Relix. A distinguished fixture on the jam band scene, his comprehensive archive documents the modern psychedelic rock-and-roll tribe through someone who lived it.

This performance marks Melvin Seals & JGB's first time performing in St. Louis this decade, offering local fans a rare opportunity to experience a direct musical link to the Jerry Garcia Band and the Grateful Dead legacy—live, in their hometown.

For over 30 years, Melvin Seals has been a towering figure in jam band music, most revered for his powerful, high-spirited Hammond B-3 organ work during his 18 years with the Jerry Garcia Band. Nicknamed "Master of the Universe" by Jerry Garcia himself, Seals helped pioneer and define the very sound of jam band music, spinning his B-3 magic night after night and bringing an intuitive, expressive style that blends blues, funk, rock, jazz, R&B, and gospel into something transcendent.

As Jake's Leg steps onto the Pageant stage on March 13th to launch their 50th year, they are not just celebrating a milestone; they're re-affirming a legacy. What began in 1976 has become a living thread woven through the cultural fabric of St. Louis and the wider Deadhead universe. For 50 years, Jake's Leg has been synonymous with the city's jam band heritage, creating a space where musicians and listeners can experience the magic of musical dialogue between band and audience.

“This series is about St. Louis and its history and involvement with the Dead’s history,” John Pennington, CEO at Proper said. “And bringing together some of the strongest contributors to the Dead’s history and work and St. Louis contributors, is by itself historical and something to praise”.

What is Hash Rosin?

Proper’s rosin is full spectrum Hash Rosin, meaning it begins as ice water hash, which is a collection of trichome heads that are suspended in water and then filtered through a series of screens. The filtered material is then freeze dried and refined using only heat and pressure—no solvents. The final product has a badder-like consistency and the same full-spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes as our other extracts.

Growing and Harvesting for Solventless

We seek out strain phenotypes that are well suited for rosin. From our genetic library, this includes Alien Rock Candy , Love Affair , Cookies and Cream , Fatso , and GMO Cookies .

Harvesting flower for our solventless products is a gentle, meticulous process. Each bud is hand manicured, put onto trays, then cryogenically frozen. The frozen product is held in our freezer until extraction.

Making Hash Rosin

Proper uses a commercial Lowtemp Industries Chilled Osprey to ensure we’re processing flower at the lowest temperature possible with the cleanest results. All ice water hash is processed in food grade passivated 304 stainless steel. Once washed, the ice water hash is pressed at the lowest temperatures possible in small batches to ensure consistent quality.

Cannabis:

A flowering plant made up of three common subspecies: cannabis indica, cannabis sativa, and cannabis ruderalis. It has been used in various traditional medicines for centuries.

Concentrates:

Extracts created with or without a solvent to dissolve the resinous cannabinoids. Live resin extracts offer an accurate representation of the living plant, rather than the dried plant. Cannabis concentrates can be found in many forms, including:

Badder : A whipped consistency, similar to cake batter.

Diamonds + Sauce: Naturally formed THCA diamonds in a high terpene liquid ‘sauce’.

Liquid Diamond Cartridges : Melted diamonds reintroduced to sauce to create a flavorful, potent vape pen.

Rosin: Similar to badder, but made without using a solvent, such as butane. Simply cannabis, water, heat, and pressure.

Edible:

Strain:

Trichome:

A crystal-like resin gland found on cannabis flowers that holds all the cannabinoids and terpenes. Plants with more trichomes (“crystals”) are more potent.

The Entourage Effect

Cannabis is more than sativa and indica. Every strain contains different terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids. When consumed together, they create what is called the Entourage Effect.

The most commonly discussed cannabinoids are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and cannabinol (CBN). THC is responsible for cannabis’ psychoactive effects; CBD is helpful when treating things like pain, inflammation, and anxiety. Together, they increase the efficacy of the other. Strains high in CBN are more likely to bring on drowsiness and aid with insomnia.

There are typically hundreds of terpenes and flavonoids found in cannabis. Terpenes are responsible for the plant’s aromatic qualities.

Cannabinoids is the chemical compounds found in cannabis flowers such as THC, CBD, and CBN.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC):

Also known as tetrahydrocannabinol, THC is the most well-known cannabinoid. THC is responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis (the “high”).

Cannabidiol (CBD):

One of the main cannabinoids found in cannabis. CBD is known for its medicinal purposes. Unlike THC, it delivers no psychoactive effects.

When Courtney Barnett first started playing shows she drove vast distances through the Australian bushland and desert, passing occasionally through small towns and stopping at gas-stations and fast-food outlets. Eventually she’d arrive at one of Australia’s sprawling cities, unpack the car, and sing. She wrote a lot of songs about those experiences, some which appear on her early EPs and debut album. Songs like Dead Fox, Scotty Says and Out Of the Woodwork.

‘Here And There’ is a concept partially born of Barnett’s love of curation. Barnett has owned a label (Milk! Records) for a decade now - releasing the music of artists from her home town of Melbourne, Australia as well a few brilliant US-based friends she’s made along the way (Sleater Kinney, Chastity Belt, Hand Habits amongst others), leveraging her deep connection with her audience to champion the music of others that she admires.

Bringing a skate park to the Ozarks.

When the team behind Latitude Dispensary moved to Lake of the Ozarks to open their new shop, they noticed a major void in the community – there was not a professionally built, safe skate park for the local community to enjoy. They set out on a mission to work with the City of Camdenton to figure out what it would take to secure a space if the scrappy DIY skaters turned cannabis operators could secure the funding and build it.

Community. Culture. Passion.

Fast forward a couple months to a conversation with the Proper Cannabis crew about community, culture, passion, and what making an impact on the world meant to everyone. What materialized from that meeting was a concept to connect the local cannabis culture to the local skate scene, and a mission to build a brand-new skate park in Camdenton City Park as a giveback to the community we are serving.

The inaugural SEVEN10 SKATE will take place on July 10th, 2022 at Lazy Gators . The first installment will see these two groups partner with the people behind SK8 Liborius to build a custom half pipe that will be dropped into the stage area of Lazy Gators. Tyreek Morrison ( @moneyteam ) will be flying in from ATL to host the event. We are expecting the top amateur skaters from around Missouri to come participate in the event, and some special guest surprises.

All proceeds will go towards designing and building the first professionally built public skate park.

Furthermore, the ramp being built for this event will be donated to the Camdenton City Park for the community to use while the planning and building process takes place behind the scenes.
